The first time I met the family was actually at a Festivas. The last one that was at Jordan's old house in Ypsilanti. I was like, whoa! These people are crazy...crazy awesome! It was a little overwhelming, but I enjoyed it immensely. Now I look forward to it every year! That was the moment I knew the clan was “my people”.
To me, the Clan motto “To Each Their Own” means acceptance. We support whatever decisions you choose to better your life.
Family traditions that I look forward to are festivas and volleyball/bonfire days. My best memory with this family is Mel and my secret wedding day. Best party ever!
Eggsacks, wretched rats, shows, corn, happy monster...lots of clan lingo that is now in my normal speech.
I can’t think of any “biggest fish” stories, that I’ve heard over and over, but I'm sure Nic's story will grow into an epic legend!
If I got to choose, I would want to live in a mythological world over candyland for sure. I would get sick of the candy.

The first time I met the whole family was for a pool/volleyball party at mawpaw’s. A few things that stood out in my mind from that day were: how much Kara and Grim cuddled and made out in the pool. I kept staring at maw’s eyes(she is so darn gorgeous). Lastly, Valerie went home and got a few swimsuit options for me so I could swim and feel included.
My all time favorite family memory is Ro’s baby shower. We felt the love!
I knew you were “my people” when, through all the ups and downs, I found myself turning to you guys to complain and share instead of my own family. The support, the love, and most importantly the forgiveness in this family are the things I am most thankful for. We lash out at each other sometimes, but we know that we got each other, and that we love one another.
To me, the clan motto means-you are not too nosy but at the same time you got each other’s back. You respect space but also still one clan.
Clan lingo that has become part of my vocabulary is “famget” and “doctor complain lot”- we call often!
A story that seems to grow more outlandish each time I hear it was how Kara pushed Jud down the stairs!
My favorite clan tradition is Maw’s movie night for Halloween. It used to be Friday nights for famget but that’s off the table for now. and definitely volleyball famget/pizza rumors.
The first Festivas I went to I thought, “oh dear god. This family is crazy. Wtf is this?!”
Eid is my favorite holiday. EID!!! EID!! Omg I would love if we start celebrating EID!! As for American holidays, I would say Easter followed by Halloween. Before having kids it was Christmas.
When I was a kid I wanted to be a math teacher. I fought my entire family to pay to send me to college to become a math teacher. They said I am too smart to barely get paid and I am glad they did. Even at college I used to correct my professors equations when they get stuck. Saying that I am good at math is simply an understatement. It’s pure enjoyment and just FUN.
How I feel loved most (in descending order): Acts of service, quality time, affirming words, touch and I don’t really care about gifts (Gifts to me are meaningless unless they were thoughtful. So it’s really about the value behind them

To me, the clan motto means that people have their thing they like and it might not be something you like. This family is very fun and they always have something funny to say.
I would live in a candy world over a mythological world, because some creatures are dangerous.
How I feel loved most (in descending order): touch, quality time, affirming words, acts of service, and gifts

The first time I met the Wingett Clan was at a Christmas party. It was a relaxed atmosphere and no one was acting too proper or stuffy. I noticed that everyone was welcoming and enjoys being with each other. Evelyn and Nina spent time with me at the party and helped me feel comfortable. I was excited to see Ev went back to the same house as me afterwards. I got a built in friend!
I knew the clan were “my people” when Jordan and Meli played MOW with me. There was another moment when I walked in at mawpaw’s and everyone happily exclaimed, “You’re here!” like they were glad to see me.
I was so geeked for Festivas that I designed and sewed my dress. It was awesome!! I’m glad I got to be a part of that and can’t wait for the next one!
Some of my favorite memories with the clan are the fourth of July party at mawpaw’s and “prune face” with Maw and Val. Some family traditions that I like are the volleyball cult, drinking, and playing cards. There is a card game my family plays called “Books and Runs” that I would like to teach you all someday.
A funny story that gets retold alot is about how uncle NIccer got his name. Supposedly, no one thought anything of it until Beau told Val that it was not appropriate.
To me the clan motto means that everyone has their own journey but can come back home and not be judged.
Candyland or Mythological world: Dragons!! Do I need ot say more? Magic. Elves. A mythological world would be exhilarating and terrifying.
The job I wanted as a kid was to be a “baby-ist” ( I didn’t know what an obstetrician was called). When I was in the first grade I wanted to be a lunch lady.
How I feel loved most (in descending order): Touch, words of affirmation, quality time, gifts, acts of service.

Dream car: F250 dually. I would use it to pull trailers. It would be dark army green with a tan interior. My car now is named Merida.

The first time I met the family was at church in Mt Morris. My first impression was that this was a tight knit family.
I was a little nervous about the first Festivas because, even though we had gone to Ren fest before, I wasn’t sure if I was going to be up to the challenge of playing a character.
I have so many memories with this Clan. A funny one that sticks out in mind was when Tony, Bryan, and I were drunk and stole someone’s mailbox. We kicked it down the road. Val yelled at us to take it back. Kids, don’t do this it is illegal.
I was proud to call this clan “my people” when I realized how everyone shows up when you are in need.
My favorite tradition with the family are the weekly famgets during warm weather. Sometimes volleyball turns into famgets, and famgets turn into volleyball. They kinda go hand in hand.
To me the clan motto works for a big family because everyone has their own dreams, goals, lives, and choices. There are family units, under the bigger umbrella of the Clan. Which is cool.
A fun childhood memory that I would love to see incorporated in the clan would be a video game night. Video games were a big part of my childhood. Everyone brings their game systems and monitors over and have a biggame night.
A story that gets retold frequently is how creepy uncle Jerry acted the night of the Halloween party at the Ortonville house. His antics and behavior were scary.
I feel like the clan is like a “members only group” and I am on the inside. I think it’s a special bond. The family is very loyal and reliable.

Hmm I vaguely remember one time I went over there and you all were dressed up and such, can’t remember exactly what for though, I know there was games and such and it was at your house. I think it was a long time ago. I think the biggest impressions that left on me was that even though you are all have your own lives in such, you still get together to spend quality social time with one another. You all seem to like having fun together, and I think that’s a really magical thing. I don’t think my family is really as social, so at first I think I was surprised to see so many people together. If that makes sense? I’m not too sure if that gives a great answer to the question, but it was really cool.
Grim
The first time I met any of the family was when we went to see Star Wars and I met Kara and Mel, but then less than a month later I went to Festivas and it was New Year’s. I thought it was awesome. I thought it was cool that everyone was into it, just the stories and the way you guys stuck to the stories…I thought it was fun.
What does the motto mean to you? Just be yourself and don’t worry about what other people are doing. Let other people be who they want to be and let their freak flag fly!
Favorite Wingett traditions: Festivas, volleyball, there’s always something going on. When you guys get together, it’s not just a casual hangout, you DO shit.
